General grade of Glass Epoxy material
G-10/FR4 is a continuous woven glass fabric laminated with an epoxy resin. This grade is extremely high in mechanical strength, has low water absorption and dissipation factors. It also has superior electrical characteristics exhibited over a wide range of temperatures and humidity levels. Sheets are smooth surface on both sides and typically come in a pale green color.
Alro Plastics offers G10/FR4 in sheet, rod, and tube form. Alro Plastics can also cut to size as well as machine this product to print on our waterjet.
What is the Difference Between G10 and FR4
The G in G10 stands for Glass, denoting that is is a glass-filled epoxy resin material.
FR stands for Fire Retardant and the 4 indicates it is a glass woven fiber-filled epoxy resin material.
The primary difference between NEMA Grades G10 and FR4 is that FR4 is a fire retardant grade of G10. Therefore, FR4 can be safely substituted where G10 is called for, while G10 can never be substituted where FR4 is called for. G10 meets MIL-I-24768/2 GEE and FR4 meets MIL-I-24768/27 GEE-F.
