6063 Aluminum

6063 is an aluminum alloy, with magnesium and silicon as the alloying elements. It has generally good mechanical properties and is heat treatable and weldable.
Aluminum 6063 is considered to have some of the best all-around extruding properties. 6063 extruded aluminum can be used for comparatively intricate sections. It is an excellent choice for hollow extrusions and architectural applications. This aluminum takes a good surface finish, is corrosion-resistant, and can be anodized. Its strength, as extruded, is somewhat higher than that of 3003. It can be precipitation heat-treated to strengths just under 6061 alloy. In tube form, it is used for irrigation pipe, furniture, electrical conduit, and handrails.
